What is kept, and why

When you report a place, the site keeps: one to three photos; the place (the street, the town and, if you confirmed it on the spot or placed it yourself, the position of the problem); your sentence and its French translation; the language you chose; the category, the priority, the status and its dates. That is what it takes to handle the report, pass it to the right service and show its progress. The public map shows the street, the category, the status, the dates and, once a person has looked at them, the photos; never your sentence or your tracking number.

Photos are re-encoded on your device (no location or device data is kept), then cleaned a second time by the server before being kept.

The position kept is where the problem is, when you confirm it on the spot or place the point yourself; never yours without your consent.

If you ask for updates by WhatsApp, your number is kept encrypted, used only for those updates, and deleted thirty days after « Done » or « Refused ». Without WhatsApp, you follow your report with its tracking number.

When you share the site, or arrive through an ambassador's link, that action is counted — the network or the word, the page, the week, the language — without knowing anything about you: no address, no device, no name.

The approval area, reserved for the people who decide, keeps a session token on their device; the public site leaves none.

If you stop the photo slideshow, your browser remembers it for the visit (session storage, cleared when the tab closes); nothing is sent.

The maps are drawn with images from TomTom or, failing that, from OpenStreetMap: to show them, your browser requests them from these services, which then see your IP address, as with any image coming from elsewhere. The site sends them nothing else: neither your location nor your reports. If TomTom does not respond, your browser remembers for the visit to use OpenStreetMap (session storage, cleared when the tab is closed).

The site does not record your IP address or your device. Its technical log notes each step of a report (the date, the kind of step), without your sentence or your contact.

How long

A report and its photos are kept until it is « Done » or « Refused », then for one year; after that they are deleted. Your WhatsApp number, if you left one, is deleted thirty days after « Done » or « Refused », together with its non-reversible fingerprint. The technical log is kept for one year.

Your rights

You can ask to access your data, correct it or delete it: write to us through the Write to us page or by WhatsApp, giving your tracking number if you can.

If you feel your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority: cnil.fr.
